About Sophia Eick
Sophia Eick is a Newark nursing student who is working toward her bachelor’s degree at the University of Delaware. Consistently making the Dean’s List, Sophia Eick has also obtained certification through the American Red Cross in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Her clinical experience includes practicing at the Family Health & Wellness extended-care facility, and she has shadowed trauma and pediatric emergency care nurses at the Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital.
Since 2018, Ms. Eick has been a gold member of the Student Nursing Organization, and she leads campus tours that introduce students considering a nursing career to the school’s offerings. She has also volunteered with Project Sunshine in making cards and crafts that brighten the lives of hospitalized children. As a Best Buddies volunteer, she has mentored an individual with a disability.
Ms. Eick also volunteered for two years with the Weisman Children’s Hospital Outpatient Center, where she interacted with patients involved in pediatric rehabilitation. She also provided individualized swimming lessons for children with autism. A fitness enthusiast, Sophia Eick captained the cross-country team while in high school and also competed in track and field.
